Olive Oil Infused Vodka

Ingredients
Bottle of Vodka
Favorite Olive Oil

Olive oil infused vodka is great way to add depth of flavor and a silkier mouthfeel to a vodka cocktail. Vodka has a great way of adapting to whatever ingredients it is mixed with and olive oil is no exception.

The amount of ingredients in this infusion depend on how much infused vodka you would like. Our house martini requires 1oz of olive oil infused vodka, so a small bottle goes a long way. We really enjoy Wheatley Vodka as the base. A quality vodka made in by our favorite manufactures of bourbon, Buffalo Trace. No matter what bottle you choose, the ratios stay the same as 2/3 vodka to 1/3 olive oil

Recipe
1. Empty 1/3 of your bottle of vodka into separate container to drink another day.
2. Add olive oil replacing the 1/3 availability in the bottle.
3. Let the bottle sit for 24 hours on a shelf out of direct sunlight.
4. After 24 hours, place bottle in freezer in the upright position so the olive oil is floating on top.
5. Wait another 24 hours until the olive oil has completely frozen.
6. Drill (or spear) two holes to allow the olive oil to escape the bottle when poured. Pour contents into separate bottle.
7. Melt the remaining frozen olive oil with hot water and rinse out vodka bottle.
8. Pour infused vodka back into bottle and store in freezer.

Notes
I like to pour the contents into a temporary container, melt the remaining frozen olive oil in the glass, and then pour the infused vodka back into the bottle. Make sure you label the bottle as you may not want an olive oil infusion in your other vodka cocktails.
