Cocktail recipes for the Semi-Professional.
As a consistent consumer of cocktails, and a nightly slinger of drinks… I really enjoy talking about all of the ingredients in each cocktail before serving. For myself, It’s a good exercise to remember each spirit, liquor, citrus, bitter, etc. is an entire group of people coming together to create something to be enjoyed. Cocktails require many specific products that can collectively take the work of hundreds of people to get the ingredients into your glass. Spreading the word about quality ingredients and sharing recipes is a joy… and serving friends and guests is an honor.
Poutinis is the name of our “local bar,” which is code for the bar we built off of our house for friends, family, and private events. Whether it is an event at Poutinis, or we are hired to bartend an event elsewhere, you can bet there will be cocktails and poutine.
The goal of this website is to feature classic, interesting, and creative cocktails that do not require a small investing firm to get your bar program off the ground. Although it is fun to see someone use a rotary evaporator distiller or flash infusion… you will probably not find that here. Yes, we will have some great recipes that involve infusing spirits, creating syrups, and finding some interesting ingredients. But we do not focus on cocktail recipes that involve more equipment than the home enthusiast can reasonably afford and store. The internet is full of wonderful bartenders that you should be following to stay inspired and push you try new techniques with commercial equipment.
If you want to follow along and be prepared to make drinks with us, make sure you visit our “Must Read” page to see our thoughts on cocktail preparation and process. Follow us on Instagram and TikTok as we often give a heads up on what we will be making so we can create together in real time.
If you would like to request a cocktail review, suggest a spirit or an ingredient that can be developed into a cocktail, or you would like a special recipe for your event/occasion, please reach out through our contact page to get directly in touch.
Thank you.
