Elote Old Fashioned

Recipe
2oz Abosolo El Whiskey Del Mexico
0.5oz Nixta Licor De Elote
4 dashes Angostura Bitters

*Garnish with large orange peel

When the “Licor de Elote” came to market, it intrigued many a cocktail enthusiast with its silky corn and umami flavors. Accenting the seasoned corn flavor in a cocktail is new grounds to be explored. I believe that this recipe is the best application of the unusual and amazing liquor. No surprise, it was released by the manufacturer itself… Nixta.

The whiskey used in this cocktail is a Mexican corn whiskey that pairs well with the season corn liquor.

This recipe follows the same old fashioned ratio and formulas. Spirit, sweetener, bitters. Stir all ingredients until cold and pour over ice.

Recipe
1. Add the whiskey, Licor De Elote, and bitters into a mixing glass.
2. Add 2 large ice cubes and stir until cold.
3. Pour contents over large ice sphere in a rocks glass.
4. Express large orange peel over the top of the drink and add to glass.

Notes
There are many great recipes for the Licor De Elote, so if you are wondering whether a whole bottle may be too much for a few old fashion’s, there will be more recipes posted using the same licor.
