This quality recipe for a blended margarita has taken me a long time to find. I have probably tried every recipe i’ve come across with a lot of frustration as the drink is either too sweet, too watered down, or the tequila doesn’t come through in the blended margarita form.

This recipe is originally from Kristina Magro, and the only edit from her amazing recipe is splitting the lime zest on top of the drink, as well as in the blender. The lime zest on top of the drink adds a bright citrus fragrance that prepares the drinkers senses for something fresh.

Recipe
1. Add the tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, agave, salt, and half of the lime zest in a glass and stir till agave is dissolved.
2. Pour 2 cups of cubed ice to your blender.
3. Add the stirred ingredients to the blender and blend until liquid consistency.
4. Pour mixture into a sassy frozen margarita glass.
5. Garnish the top of the drink with remaining lime zest (or more).
6. Add lime wheel and serve.

Notes:
Any blanco tequila will work for this drink, but Ocho Plata is my favorite for margaritas. It has a pleasant bite that shines through the citrus and sweetener. If you enjoy sipping tequila straight, and shy away from sweet drinks, this is the tequila to use!
