Pecan Old Fashioned
Ingredients
2oz Pecan Infused Bourbon (recipe here)
.75oz Demerara Syrup (recipe here)
1 dash Angostura Bitters
*No garnish
Infusing bourbon with pecans, walnuts, and other various ingredients is a tried and true practice that dates back to the ancient ages. However, the crew at Death & Co. are responsible for the modern infusion recipe, as it’s been copy pasted across the world wide web… and for good reason.
To begin this drink, you will need some prep time in order to infuse the bourbon. This is a 7 day process, so leave plenty of time for infusing. You can see our modified recipe, by clicking here, for a smaller format infusion in case you don’t need a full 750 ml bottle of pecan infused whiskey.
Once the bourbon has been infused the process is very similar to creating an old fashioned. The Demerara syrup is the perfect sweetener for the nutty bourbon, as it accents the pecan with a balanced rich molasses flavor. The one dash of Angostura bitters is plenty to bind the flavors together.
Recipe
1. Pour the infused bourbon, demerara, and bitters into a mixing glass and stir with 2 large ice cubes until cold.
2. Pour over medium sized ice in your grandpas vintage rocks glass.
