The Poutini

Ingredients
2oz Beefeater London Dry Gin
1oz Olive Oil Infused Vodka (recipe here)
.5oz Lillet Blanc
1 tsp Fresh lemon juice

*Lemon twist garnish

This is our house martini… The Poutini. This is my favorite of our martini recipes. The Poutini is a bright, zesty martini with a savory twist by infusing olive oil into the vodka. The olive oil we use in this infusion is one of our favorites for cooking, making it the perfect pairing of booze and late night poutine.

The key to this drink is keeping the ingredients as cold as possible. Temperature is always a factor in cocktail construction, but the importance of “cold control” is extremely important when making martinis. Store your gin, olive oil infused vodka, and martini glass in the freezer before making the cocktail.

Before you start the martini, you will need 2 days to infuse your vodka. Click here to see our olive oil infused vodka recipe.

Once you have infused your vodka, the recipe is fairly straight forward.

Recipe
1. Collect the martini glass from the freezer and squeeze about 1 tsp of lemon juice into the glass. This is usually 1/4 wedge of a medium sized lemon.
2. Swirl the lemon around the interior of the glass and then discard the lemon juice.
3. Add the Gin, Vodka, Lillet blanc and cubed ice to a shaker and shake vigorously until chilled… and your hands hurt from the cold.
4. Pour and strain into chilled martini glass.
5. Express the lemon peel over the top of the glass and garnish by placing a lemon twist on the side of the rim (as pictured).
6. Serve with poutine and drink immediately.

This may seem silly, but I like to warn each guest that this cocktail is delicious and dangerous. The Poutini has 3oz of spirits and is boozier than most recipes. 2 Poutini martinis are equivalent to 3 standard cocktails. I am all for a party… but customers will be warned.
